The Garment District Is All You Need...

...For Halloween I have taken it upon myself to start looking for costume on the first day of the month. I'm hoping to go as Jackie Chiles and possible even my staple for the last few years, an 80s rapper. Keep you posted and with pictures next time so stay tuned!

EPTA: Part 2

Sooo since the last time. I spoke to you guys I think I was mentioning how I spent $40 bucks on nothing. Well turns out not only did I get a chance to submit my movie but I never had to spend any money at all since I am shooting pix for the event! At this point after submitting my film over a week ago I'm not sure if I got in. but some friends of mine got 2 of their movies in. I'm happy for them. They got a company started and I am trying to follow suit. I have a meeting tonight with Shooby where we will discussing the further steps to be taken for our company. We may have a music video on deck with a local band. keep you posted on that but in the meantime in between time stay tuned!

Error Please Try Again

So the plot thickened last night with my short film. The deadline was yesterday at midnight. I only had one movie to submit and was working on it til about 10PM. Shooby and I were supposed to have dinner that night at the "Hipster Haven" but the movie would not allow me to be done in a timely fashion. After like 2 hours she left. Even for the most part it was an uneventful evening I was proud of myself. 24 hours prior I thought I was back to square one but I stuck through it and I was about to enter my first film festival EVER outside of college. To top it off the was their first annual film fest too so it all seemed to be adding up. And even if I wasn't accepted at least I tried and I know I have spent $10 bucks on worse. I will be there any ways taking pix for the event.

But...things didn't go according to plan. At first I thought my original thoughts about the deadline being 12:00AM Sept 2ND were correct. But it still took my money and for some reason it thought I was submitting 3 movies. Huh? I tried logging in again but it kept reading "Error Please Try Again." I even tried submitting with a new credit card and again it took my money but didn't let me upload my film. I have now spent $40 on...nothing.

After all that I was asking fellow people who I know entered it they had any trouble submitting both said no and my cousin Gus said he actually sent it by mail. I don't know if it was because I felt so accomplished that I tried or what but I wasn't even upset. I was actually kind of relieved.
I emailed the 2 people running the show and before I could stand away from my computer after sending it. My roommate gave me over $40 for bills and other house expenses. Easiest money I ever made.

Today I got a response and apparently I wouldn't have had to pay anything in the first place. I could have submitted for free since I'm shooting the event! So after all that I'll be be getting a refund and a chance to build my portfolio. Honestly I couldn't have planned it any better.

In other film news Gus and I may be doing some writing sessions together. I will be meeting my friends Nick tonight to have some talks on the same since he and I spoke about this way beforehand. And I'm sure at some point during the week me and Shooby will meet up at the Otherside Cafe to clear up some more company stuff. Keep you posted in the meantime in between time stay tuned!

Move-In Day Mayhem

So here we are again. The summer is over pretty much and we are now back to the start of a new semester. This means big plans for the most of us. But for now the first things on top of the priority list is moving into or around our new/old and humble abodes. I somehow missed it for the most part of the weekend but yesterday was no different from what the majority of the city was going through. Rewind to the night before and I was like "Yeah fuck that! I'm getting up at 5:30AM, moving my stuff into, and cleaning, my room AND doing my laundry!" Yeah...right. Fast forward to 10:30AM and I finally woke up, which was only because my new roommate rung the door bell to move in.

I barely got my clothes off my floor when, my cell started going off. First it was a text about an annual BBQ I forgot all about that started at 1. Then I got a call from Shooby about some new drama between some of our mutual friends. I also had a date that night and somehow had to find time to edit my short for a film fest that had a midnight deadline.

Before I knew it it was 2 and I was no where near done with anything. So I looked at my priorities and did what was best. Showered up, left my place, got a $2 40oz at Libby's and headed to the BBQ. Got home around 8 and my date fell through but we still have plans for this week.

I started editing around 9 and did so frantically until midnight only to find out it was due today at midnight. So i worked on it until 4AM and will put the final touches on it today. I will keep you posted on how it turns out so stay tuned!

First Things 1st!

So here we are. April showers have brought the Mayflower or somthing like that. And though it's not exactly the first day of Spring yet, this is kind of a new beginning for me at least with this first enrty of my new blog. I'm not sure yet if I will keep my old one but we will see. It's still up in the air. For now though today feels like an official countdown to the kick off of the summer: MEMORIAL DAY. And once that begins before you know it it's the 4th and next thing you know it's Labor Day. So I'm will be seizing the day the much as possible until then to ensure a great long summer that isn't taken for granted. So that said I will keep it short but I will keep you posted on whatever's clever. See you on Cinoc de Mayo!
